Job Description

UMKC School of Law seeks a highly motivated candidate to serve as a recruitment paraprofessional in the Office of Law Admissions. The Admissions & Recruitment Coordinator will assist in implementing Law School efforts related to admissions, recruitment, and outreach, with a particular emphasis on diversity of all types. Responsibilities include:

o Effectively communicate general program information and admissions requirements to interested applicants through individual meetings, virtual sessions, and group presentations.

o Greet visitors, answer phone and email, assist with professors on the admissions committee, and help assist law admissions area. Help with scheduling of calendars, mail, documents, and schedule appointments.

o Support two full time staff positions and 20+ student emissaries, on the mission of acquiring high quality candidates for entering classes of law.

o Troubleshoot issues and problems that arise in the office and serve as liaison between law school faculty, candidates and family members, and students.

o Assist in filing of applications and assuring each candidate's file is complete and ready for review. Schedule interviews and send appropriate communications by email, phone, or mail.

o Assist in scheduling and managing of office events such as Future Student Days, Admitted Students Day, Scholarship Day, campus visits, information sessions, etc.

o Travel up to three weeks per year to promote UMKC Law at graduate and career fairs as well as coordinate appointments at local colleges and universities with pre-law clubs and advisors.

o Provide administrative support to faculty on admissions committee, and law admissions area.

o Other duties as assigned

o Assist with any social media projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful applicants should be organized, able to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines, student-oriented, and excited to work on a team. Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to learn new programs and technologies and have strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in admissions, student services, counseling, advising, and/or customer service is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a Liberal Arts. A J.D. degree or experience/knowledge in the legal field is desirable.
  • A Valid Driver's License is highly preferred

Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $18.50 hr, commensurate on experience, education, and internal equity.

This position is 40 hours a week and temporary from November 2, 2026 to May 2027

Schedule is M-F 8:00am-5:00pm
