Part-time/Temporary/After School/Fine Arts Tutor

Primary Purpose:
Assist K-12 Fine Arts staff in the performance of duties. Assist in teaching students while enhancing opportunities to participate in music, dance, or theatre activities including, but not limited to, University Interscholastic League (UIL), TMEA, TDEA, TxETA and school district requirements. Implement Fine Arts TEKS curriculum in Music, Dance, or Theatre.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Skills in Fine Arts
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge and ability in Fine Arts teaching and performance on musical instrument, color guard, voice, dance, or theatre
Knowledge of state, UIL, and Fine Arts strand policies (TMEA, TDEA, or TxETA)
Ability to understand and follow school policies, procedures, regulations, and data
Experience:
Fine Arts teaching experience (Music, Dance, or Theatre) for students in grades K-12 Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Music/Color Guard
- Tutor K-12 school instrumental performers, including concert band, jazz band, soloists, and ensembles.; or Tutor Choral students in proper vocal technique; or tutor/direct color guard performers in fall marching band and winter guard seasons and coordinate program.
- Assist in preparing students for successful participation in TMEA All District, Region, Area, and State auditions.
3. Tutor K-12 dance performers in preparation for all performances by using proper warmup, technique, choreography design, and implementation.
Theatre
4. Tutor K-12 theatre performers and technicians in proper techniques for successful acting or technical theatre design and implementation.
All Fine Arts Tutors
- Comply with federal and state laws, Texas State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, TMEA, TDEA, or TxETA rules, local school board policies, and campus policies, practices, and procedures.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Work to provide campus, district, and community awareness of band activities and performances.
- Communicate expectations and program goals to students.
- Keep student information confidential.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, occasional reaching
Environment: Prolonged and irregular hours, and occasional out of district travel
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management
and public relation skills, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress Other Information:
