Job Description Summary
A temporary employee position is one created and intended to exist for less than one thousand four hundred fifty (1,450) hours in any calendar year. Temporary employees have no seniority, grievance, or appeal privileges. Temporary employees shall have no benefits except as required by law.
A temporary employee position may be full-time, part-time, variable hour or seasonal.
Minimum Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform manual work collecting refuse and recycling.
โ€ข Operate a variety of commercial refuse collection vehicles.
โ€ข Perform manual labor.
ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
โ€ข Perform custodial tasks in the general housekeeping of the facility, including sweeping and, cleaning floors.
โ€ข Maintain appearance of facility grounds by clearing debris and sweeping curbs/walkways.
โ€ข Maintain work unit files and records.
โ€ข Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
โ€ข Must hold CDL Class B with airbrake endorsements
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
โ€ข Ability to learn safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of motorized equipment.
โ€ข Ability to learn how to operate motorized equipment in a safe and effective manner.
โ€ข Ability to use various hand tools.
โ€ข Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
โ€ข Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
โ€ข Ability to work cooperatively with other employees.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
โ€ข Ability to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb/balance, operate mechanical equipment, and move up and down from/to sitting position on the floor.
โ€ข Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.
โ€ข Must have clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors, good peripheral vision, and precise hand-eye coordination.
โ€ข May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
โ€ข Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
