Job Description Summary
WVNCC seeks Part-Time Temporary Teachers for TRIO Upward Bound, to instruct
Saturday College Day and/or Summer Academy.
This is a grant funded position. The part-time positions include Math, English Composition, Foreign Language, Science, and Social Studies.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching: Develop and deliver a curriculum that addresses course objectives and use innovative teaching methods to engage students. In the summer, instructors teach during a six-week on-campus session. During the academic year, they teach on Saturdays, focusing on preparing students for the ACT and college entrance exams.
  • Supporting students: Provide feedback to students to help them improve academically. Monitor student attendance and progress and refer students who aren't making adequate progress to their supervisor.
  • Collaborating: Work with the TRIO Upward Bound Director, academic advisor, program coordinator, and other program personnel.
  • Evaluating: Complete summative evaluations that highlight students' strengths and needs. Submit curriculum evaluations to improve program services.
  • Recommending improvements. Recommend program improvements and participate in program awards ceremonies.

Education requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the subject matter teacher has applied.
Pay Rate is $22.13 hourly
