Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Performs installation, maintenance of electrical equipment, building lighting, electrical fixtures, outside lighting and power and performs temporary installation of electrical power for public and university functions throughout campus.
* This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • A minimum of two years of field experience in the electrical trade.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, using electronic methods such as I-pad, computer and cell phone.
  • Ability to plan work operations, follow oral and written instructions and communicate. effectively with department heads and other trade and contract workers as required.
  • Ability to use computers, IPads, IPhone, for timekeeping, communication, data entry and work order management.
  • Possess strong electrical trade knowledge and skills.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and NC State Building Code.
  • Able to use multimeters and other trade test equipment.
  • Able to perform wiring, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical/lighting fixture repair/replacement.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs on fixtures and lighting.

Required Certifications or Licensure
A valid NC Driver's License or the ability to obtain one in 30 days of hire.
