What You'll Do:

• Develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure appropriate placement for patients upon discharge.
• Conduct thorough social assessments during both admission and discharge to support each patient's recovery journey.
• Research and connect patients with social programs and community resources to help them achieve successful, independent living.
• Collaborate with families to provide guidance on how they can support loved ones coping with the effects of mental illness.
• Be a key part of a treatment team, contributing to the holistic care of each patient and ensuring smooth transitions throughout their care.

Requirements:
This is a tobacco free facility. Chosen applicants must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in Agency and Bureau policies. If needed, you must be able to work holidays and weekends. Mandatory overtime, as necessary, is an essential function of this position. Candidates must successfully pass a background screening.
Minimum Qualifications
Education (Must qualify based on one of the following):

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
2. Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, or Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university. Please provide documentation of the approval with your application.
3. Bachelor's degree in a related field, as determined and approved by the West Virginia Board of Social Work. Please provide documentation of the approval with your application.

Licensure/Certification
(Must qualify based on one of the following):

1. Applicants selected for this classification must obtain a Social Work License or Temporary Social Work License prior to beginning employment.
2. Provide a valid eligibility determination from the West Virginia Board of Social Work for a Provisional Social Work License.

Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a 110-bed psychiatric hospital owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides quality patient care and a safe environment for its patients, who are often committed to the hospital through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system. As a training site for future health care professionals, Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides on-site learning experiences for educating physicians, nurses, practical nurses, psychologists, counselors, health care administrators, technicians, and supportive services personnel. The hospital holds accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
