Duties * You will serve as the Lifting and Handling Program administrative and technical advisor to the Shipyard Commander. * You will oversee material distribution and personnel movement throughout the waterfront to support Lifting and Handling operations. * You will act as the Certifying Official for all Navy-owned and leased Weight Handling Equipment (WHE). * You will represent the shipyard at meetings and conferences, assisting in the development of lifting and handling policies and objectives. * You will oversee the inspection, testing, and maintenance of equipment and initiate corrective action as necessary. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading a diverse team at a waterfront nuclear-capable shipyard. This experience must include industrial engineering duties, scheduling, nuclear safety protocols, and resolving complex technical or operational challenges to maximize the departments efficiency and effectiveness. Additional information This position is subject to working an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
