Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Security Guard position is a Non-Sworn position responsible for patrolling the buildings and grounds of UNCW main campus and other properties owned and or leased by UNCW insuring that faculty, staff, students and guests are safe. The Security Guard responsibilities include conducting foot patrols of buildings and grounds in assigned areas such as academic buildings, Randall Library, Crest Research Park; locking/unlocking facilities as scheduled; identifying security risks; making appropriate notifications; responding to calls for service; responding to fire alarms as requested; assisting police officers; assisting motorists/pedestrians; enforcing parking violations and other duties as assigned. This position will also assist in the training of new Security Guards, direct traffic in congested areas and/or during special events, assist guests and visitors with directions and information, provide escort services for university faculty, staff, students, and guests and provide Crime Prevention Programming. This role will also perform any other related duties that may be required. Position may require traveling between UNCW properties.
