A well-established original equipment manufacturer is hiring an Automation Engineer to join their project management team. The Automation Engineer will work within a team of engineers to design, build and debug robotic automation systems. Daily you will report to an Electrical Engineering Team Lead. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist with quoting robotic systems for equipment builds
  • Design, develop and program robotic systems, including end of arm tooling
  • Assist mechanical engineers and technicians with debugging systems
  • Travel to customer sites for robotic set up and advanced troubleshooting
  • Manage up to five projects at a time, all at various stages
  • Train end users on robotic systems
  • Utilize robotic simulation software to ensure structural and reach requirements
  • Represent the company in a professional manner that will foster and build internal and external relationships
  • Other duties as directed by management

Candidates should enjoy working in a laid back, team oriented environment and collaborating with engineers, sales and operations. This position receives paid overtime and travel pay. REQUIREMENTS for the Automation Engineer:

1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

2. Ideally three years of experience working in automated manufacturing environments

3. At least 1-2 years in an engineering, programming or technician role with the desire to learn more about robotics

4. General mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting gears, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.

5. General electrical aptitude, including troubleshooting fuses, contactors, wiring, etc.

6. General understanding of logic related to PLCs, robotics, sequencing, etc.

7. Basic math skills

8. Willingness to travel up to 25-30% of the time

9. Microsoft Office

Skills preferred but NOT required:

1. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or integrator experience

2. Skilled trades background

3. Working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, etc.

4. Customer communication
