Chemotherapy Registered Nurse (Chemo RN) - Contract
Location: Brandywine, MD
Employment Type: Contract to Perm
Salary Range: $45 to $50 / hr

NurseAmerica is seeking an experienced and compassionate Chemotherapy Registered Nurse (Chemo RN) to join a high-quality outpatient oncology practice in Maryland. This role is ideal for RNs with infusion and chemotherapy experience who are passionate about delivering patient-centered cancer care in a collaborative clinical environment.
The Chemotherapy RN provides direct nursing care to oncology patients, administers chemotherapy and biologic therapies, and supports patients and families throughout treatment while adhering to national oncology standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely prepare and administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive infusion therapies under provider supervision
  • Assess patients prior to treatment, including review of labs, vitals, and overall clinical status
  • Monitor patients during and after infusions, identifying and managing adverse reactions
  • Perform venipuncture and access implanted ports and central venous catheters
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management
  • Collaborate with providers to support dose modifications and treatment planning
  • Ensure proper consent, pre-authorizations, and treatment verification prior to administration
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and charge capture
  • Follow OSHA, infection control, and hazardous drug handling guidelines
  • Maintain clean, organized infusion areas and equipment
  • Assist with patient scheduling, flow, and coordination of care
  • Triage patient calls and communicate findings to the clinical team
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to LPNs, MAs, and less-experienced RNs
  • Participate in quality initiatives and ongoing oncology education
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology or infusion nursing experience preferred
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certification strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Outpatient oncology/infusion clinic setting
  • Potential exposure to hazardous drugs, cytotoxic agents, and communicable diseases
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and normal vision/hearing (with correction) required
