Talantage, LLC is seeking compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our correctional healthcare team in Cumberland, Maryland. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing quality nursing care to an underserved patient population while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs), physicians, and psychiatric providers, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers patient-centered nursing care within the scope of Maryland nursing practice. The LPN assists in assessing patient needs, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and promoting the health and well-being of incarcerated individuals.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within the scope of LPN practice.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly report changes to the Registered Nurse or provider.
  • Assist with patient assessments, admissions, discharges, and ongoing medical care.
  • Document nursing care, medications, and patient observations accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and urgent healthcare needs.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, and preventive healthcare.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards, HIPAA requirements, and correctional healthcare policies.
  • Follow all facility security procedures and organizational policies.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Maryland.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Current tuberculosis (TB) screening/documentation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment drug screening, and obtain required facility security clearance.

Preferred

  • Minimum of one (1) year of LPN experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, long-term care, or similar healthcare setting.
  • Previous correctional healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
