Job description

Summary of Duties

Responsible for performing and assisting the Chief Engineer in the maintenance of all broadcast equipment in the WFXG transmission systems. Duties also include serving as the assistant FCC Chief Operator.

Role and Responsibilities

Perform maintenance of all RF transmission equipment in the WFXG broadcast systems. This includes troubleshooting and repair of electronic broadcast equipment to the component level.

Responsible for all electronic maintenance at the WFXG transmitter plant.

Serve as assistant FCC Chief Operator for WFXG. Responsible for compliance with FCC technical rules including EAS and transmitter remote control systems.

Assist with maintenance of WFXG RF equipment including microwave equipment, weather radar, and the station vehicles. Also includes assistance with the maintenance of various switchers, remote control, monitoring/test equipment, and DTV equipment.

Assist Chief Engineer with planning and design of new and replacement broadcast electronic and computer systems.

Install new equipment into existing plant systems. Perform equipment tests for technical compliance after installation is complete.

Support and assist all other departments’ technical needs to ensure departmental and station goals are achieved.

Assist viewers with off-air or cable signal reception issues. Diagnose problem and recommend solution.

Must be available for on-call emergencies.
