Where Potential Meets Purpose: Spees Design Build
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing A/E team. In this role, you will work directly with our Lead Mechanical Engineer and project delivery teams.
You will plan and manage building mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for various commercial and federal projects. Your typical day will include design project scope, schedule, and budget management, QAQC review, meetings with clients, internal design team meetings, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team. You will join a mechanical team aiming to exceed client design expectations while delivering projects on time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience designing and/or managing projects in the field of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to both clients and teams.
  • Proven analytical and critical-thinking abilities to support design development and problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of design and coordination tools.
  • Understanding of applicable codes, building standards, construction practices, and effective space planning strategies.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and inclusive studio culture.
  • Experience with design QAQC and construction administration
  • You have experience with MS Project, Procore, and other design- and construction-management software tools.
  • Leadership or management experience, especially in government or healthcare projects is a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical project management tasks, including:
    • ROM project estimating
    • Project budget development and management
    • Schedule development and management
    • QAQC and standardization across engineering disciplines
    • Client engagement and team communication
    • Scope management
  • Visit project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions
  • Coordinate with internal staff and external consultants to develop cohesive, technically sound solutions.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews and enforce firm-wide quality standards.
  • Provide construction support services: submittal/RFI reviews, site visits, punch lists, and progress checks.

Essential Functions:
  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Able to lift up to15 pounds at times
  • Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (20%)
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required

Salary Range
  • $110,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications (DOE).
