Job description

We're seeking a temporary Cost Engineer to join our Finance team. 

*This is up to a six month assignment at our Calvert, AL location (hybrid) 

Objective

The Cost Engineer acts as plant controller/financial advisor for the respective plant.  Plan, analyze and report production costs. This individual is an active member of the mill management team and is expected to lead and support all aspects of facility.


Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. BS preferred.
3 - 5 years of experienced in desired field preferred.
Provide support for preparation of capital investment.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Manufacturing experience is required; metals industry preferred.
5-10 years of previous experience in cost accounting/planning and analysis.
Experience with SAP or similar ERP system.
Strong experience in use and applications of Microsoft Office, mainly PowerPoint & Excel.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering or similar discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinates with operation leaders to drive best practices, monitor cost performances, and work with operations' teams to optimize cost strategies.
Improves financial status by analyzing costs results and variances; identifying trends; recommending actions.
Increases productivity by developing automated applications; eliminating duplications; coordinating information requirements.
Prepares and assemble the specific cost and operational efficiency reports and solutions for operations management presented at the monthly business review meetings.
Partner with business stakeholders to prepare and consolidate Capital Expenditure proposals and present to senior management for review and approval.
Prepare complete cost of manufacturing figures to support the Annual Plan, Mid-year Review and Forecast processes by providing guidance, support and analytics to management for respective production areas.
Conduct ad-hoc reporting and analysis (e.g., performance deviations) required for respective plant management.
Participate or manage projects (if required) for cost reduction efforts (including scope of IT related projects) to support respective production area.
Support accurate reporting of cost of manufacturing by providing timely and accurate accrual information relative to the respective production area.
Provide reasonable and reliable new product cost estimates for basis in determining new business opportunities.
 

Hourly Rate:  $35.00 to $45.00
