Position Summary Information
Position Summary
The Psychology Instructor is responsible for providing a quality learning experience for all the College students. The instructor will teach psychology courses; provide high quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations; perform instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College; the Instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College concept, assessment, cooperative learning, and student advising.
Responsibilities
  • Develop course outlines and teaching materials based on the state curriculum standards and make changes to the curriculum as needed
  • Facilitate the delivery of psychology courses
  • Deliver a teaching load that may include a combination of traditional, internet, hybrid, and Career and College Promise classes as well as corresponding labs as needed for the academic year
  • Utilize active learning methods, technology, and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College initiative
  • Post and maintain office hours for student appointments
  • Be supportive of students' learning goals
  • Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data
  • Maintain prompt communication with supervisor
  • Serve as an academic advisor and assist in the registration process
  • Participate in College committees and/or other college-wide activities as elected or assigned
  • Serve as an ambassador in the community for Isothermal Community College
  • Contribute to the division assessment by recording and reporting on work projects and provide rationale and feedback for operations in place
  • Perform expectations of a faculty member as stated in the Full-Time Faculty Job Description
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be highly organized
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a minimum of supervision

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in teaching discipline from an accredited institution, required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Community College teaching experience, preferred
  • Experience teaching online, preferred
  • Experience with academic advising, preferred
  • Development Education Teaching Experience, preferred
