Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation is seeking a Nutrition Coordinator (Promotor de Nutrición) to support community nutrition programming which includes educating participants on healthy meals and meal preparation. The Promotora will work closely with the Facilitator to ensure that stations are prepared, participants are engaged, and post-program clean-up and break-down are completed.
The successful candidate will have an interest in working with underserved communities in New York City and have experience working with community nutrition programming. The position will require travel to third party training sites and will require Spanish language instruction.
Position Location: New York City, various sites
Reports to: Community Health Specialist
Status: Part Time, Temporary
Hours and Rates of Pay: Position will work for up to 15 hours per week with $25 as a rate of pay. Schedule is provided ahead of time.
Geographic Focus: Lower East Side and Chinatown, ZIP codes: 10002, 10003, 10009, 10013
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare nutrition workstations for participants, ensuring all supplies and foods are readily available.
  • Disseminate and track required paperwork for all participants.
  • Oversee classes and provide assistance to participants as needed throughout the program.
  • Manage breakdown of program site and pack and store all equipment as requested.
  • Present around topics of nutrition as requested
  • Support administrative tasks as required and requested.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with community outreach and engagement in New York City, especially focused in the Lower East Side and Chinatown areas.
  • Comfort with public speaking and presentation.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extend periods of time, able to lift up to 25lbs of food and other materials
  • Commitment to Hispanic Federation's mission of uplifting underserved communities.
  • High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Spanish fluency is required, other languages are an asset.
