Job description

Title: Assistant Construction Project Manager
Company: Global Power Components – www.globalpowercomponents.com
Location: Milwaukee, WI (onsite 5-days/week)
Hire Type: Temp-to-Hire (3+ months)
Position Summary:
The Assistant Construction Project Manager serves as the onsite representative for active construction projects across company facilities. This individual will be the "boots on the ground" presence responsible for monitoring project progress, coordinating contractors, documenting issues, and helping ensure projects are completed safely and according to schedule. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with the Construction Project Manager, escalating concerns, schedule impacts, budget risks, and quality issues when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the onsite company representative during construction activities.
  • Monitor daily project activities and contractor performance.
  • Ensure work is progressing according to project schedules and plans.
  • Conduct routine site walkthroughs and document project progress.
  • Verify work quality and identify deficiencies requiring correction.
  • Coordinate access, logistics, and communication between contractors and facility personnel.
  • Escalate schedule delays, safety concerns, quality issues, and budget impacts to the Construction Project Manager.
  • Assist with project scheduling, documentation, reporting, and contractor coordination.
  • Review drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure project requirements are being followed.
  • Support project meetings, punch list activities, and project closeout efforts.
  • Maintain accurate project records, photographs, and progress reports.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices on all job sites.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • 2+ years of construction, facilities, or project coordination experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in the field.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, or tradespeople.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between Milwaukee-area locations.

Preferred:
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing construction environments.
  • Associate degree or coursework in Construction Management or a related field.
  • OSHA safety training.
  • Experience using project management or scheduling software.
