N Street Village is the largest provider of services for women experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. We are a community rooted in dignity, healing, and empowerment—and we’re growing our on‑call team!

We are hiring five (5) On‑Call Program Associates to support our clients across any of our seven locations throughout Washington, DC. This team plays a critical role in maintaining safe, supportive, and mission‑driven environments for women in our day center, low‑barrier shelter, temporary shelter, and supportive housing programs.

???? About the Role

As an On‑Call Program Associate, you’ll step in to support programs during staff shortages, peak times, emergencies, or special needs. You must be able to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. N Street Village operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and on‑call staff are essential to ensuring consistent, high‑quality care.



???? What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with residents
  • Assist with care coordination, referrals, and basic service needs
  • Support case plan implementation and document services in HMIS/OCTO
  • Help de‑escalate crises and respond to immediate client needs
  • Enforce program rules and maintain a safe community environment
  • Complete incident reports and intake paperwork
  • Conduct room and locker checks for cleanliness and safety
  • Perform random drug screenings per program rules
  • Maintain medication logs and assist residents with medication tracking
  • Represent the program when supervisors are unavailable
  • Participate in meetings, training, and quality improvement activities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners
  • Uphold N Street Village’s mission, values, and client‑centered approach
  • Work at any of our 7 DC locations as assigned

???? Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree + 1 year social services experience
    OR HS Diploma/GED + 2 years direct social service experience
    OR HS Diploma/GED + 5 years general work experience
  • Must be able to pass drug screening within 48hr of offer and all compliance documents before start date

Preferred Experience:

  • Working with vulnerable or homeless populations
  • Supporting individuals with mental health or substance use challenges
  • Familiarity with DC’s HMIS
  • Cultural competence and a commitment to inclusivity
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry)
