Job Summary
The Temporary Retiree will support the Office of Career and Professional Development as a Program Instructor on the Statesboro Campus. The Program Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, educational programming for Georgia Southern University Continuing and Professional Education participants. The instructor will provide subject matter expertise through lectures, demonstrations, guided tours, discussions, hands-on activities, or other instructional methods appropriate to the program. The instructor will foster an interactive learning environment while ensuring participants have a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful educational experience.
Temporary employees are employed according to departmental need and the length of time will vary by workload and may not exceed 1300 hours worked in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities

• Delivers high-quality educational instruction and/or guided experiences in the assigned subject area
• Presents accurate, engaging, and relevant program content tailored to the intended audience
• Leads lectures, guided tours, demonstrations, discussions, or hands-on learning activities as appropriate
• Answers participant questions and encourages interaction throughout the program
• Coordinates with Georgia Southern University Continuing and Professional Education staff regarding program logistics and participant needs
• Maintains a professional and welcoming learning environment
• Arrives prepared with any necessary instructional materials and adheres to the established program schedule
• Represents Georgia Southern University Continuing and Professional Education in a professional manner throughout the program

Shift Specifics

• 7.5 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• Shifts available Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with continuing education, professional development, community education, or university outreach programs
• Experience developing instructional materials, lesson plans, or educational activities

Required Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the subject area being taught
• Previous experience teaching, training, facilitating, presenting, or leading educational programs, workshops, seminars, guided tours, or related learning experiences
• Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to audiences with varying levels of knowledge and experience
• Experience engaging participants through interactive instructional methods, discussions, demonstrations, or hands-on activities
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills
• Ability to manage groups in a professional and respectful manner
• Experience working independently while following established program guidelines and schedules
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service and creating a positive learning experience for participants

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and subject matter expertise
• Professional certifications, licenses, or credentials relevant to the instructional topic, when applicable

Preferred Experience

• Experience with continuing education, professional development, community education, or university outreach programs
• Experience developing instructional materials, lesson plans, or educational activities.
• Previous experience teaching adult learners .

Proposed Salary
$13.34 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
