The
Electroplating Technician directs, supports and maintains all plating and chemical surface finishing processes and related activities. Establish and achieve planned performance levels, with primary emphasis on continuous improvement, ISO and Lean Manufacturing.
Are You Looking To:
- Perform chemical analysis including (AAS, X-ray, fluorescence, titration, etc.) on both plating bathes and waste plant's discharge.
- Prepare institutes and sustain procedures and controls for all processes employed in the plating lab.
- Possess knowledge of plating and related processes.
- Ensure safe operation of all surface-finishing processes.
- Develop, perform, and interpret test analysis and results to evaluate chemical processes related to the production processes in the plating room.
- Train personnel in the proper setup and process procedures to clean and plate using the correct plating methods, correct measuring devices/techniques, process control methods, etc.
- Manage waste streams and effectively treats and stores hazardous waste that is accumulated from the plating process.
- Observe established safe working and housekeeping procedures, promptly corrects hazardous situations.
- Participate in and take proactive roles in ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies for problem prevention, corrective action, identification, and solution verification.
- Monitor process operating parameters and corrects deviations from established set points.
- Revise process work instructions as needed. Writes new work instructions to support process changes or improvements as necessary.
- Perform hands-on surface finishing operations; processes and prioritizes all work orders per documented procedures.
- Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Are you Ready To:
- Have regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.
- Report directly to Process Engineer-Electroplating. Provide direction to plating operators. Extensive contact with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Purchasing and Quality Assurance personnel. Have contact with outside vendors and customers.
- Account for efficient operation and process development of all plating and cleaning operations within the factory.
- Independently make complex bath and process adjustments and train others in proper procedures. Team performance measures are directly impacted by actions.
- Be responsible for the generation, labeling, storage, and other general management of hazardous waste. Employee requires "Hazardous Waste Management Training" once per year in accordance with Minn. R. 7045.0292.
- Be responsible for offering hazardous waste for shipment.
- Maintain "Department of Transportation Shippers Training" DOT compliance once every three years in accordance with 40 CFR 172.700-704.
- Work with chemicals that require respirator use per Respiratory Protection Program.
- Perform other related duties and projects as required and assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Two-year degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent discipline, or relevant chemical and technical experience.
- 1 or more years' experience in relevant plating andor chemical processes, which includes titration, atomic absorption, and waste water treatment experience.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
