Job description

Work Setting: Hybrid engineering office environment in Charlotte, NC with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote

Travel: Minimal travel, approximately 10% or less, with occasional international travel possible

Compensation: Approximately $124,000 to $143,000 base salary, plus overtime eligibility, profit sharing, and strong long-term benefits

Position Summary

A global industrial technology company is seeking a Senior Civil & Structural Designer to support the design of large-scale heavy industrial process plants. This role focuses on structural steel systems, elevated support structures, industrial plant layout, and detailed 3D modeling within a highly collaborative engineering environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Aveva E3D experience and a background supporting heavy industrial or process plant projects within EPC, metals, mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, or related environments.


Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D structural drawings for heavy industrial facilities

• Design structural steel systems, elevated supports, and plant infrastructure layouts

• Coordinate structural support requirements for equipment, ducting, and mechanical systems

• Support project execution, constructability reviews, and engineering deliverables

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, consultants, and remote project teams

• Review drawings for consistency with project standards and requirements

• Provide technical guidance to designers and contract personnel


Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of industrial structural design experience

• Strong Aveva E3D experience required

• Experience with PDMS, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, or related industrial modeling tools

• Heavy industrial or process plant design background strongly preferred

• Experience creating detailed 3D plant models and structural drawings

• Strong understanding of structural steel systems and industrial support structures

• Ability to work cross-functionally within EPC or industrial engineering environments
