Job description

We are seeking a seasoned procurement professional to lead sourcing initiatives for the University's Facilities and Construction department. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level strategic planning and boots-on-the-ground execution. You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of construction-related contracts-from planning and design to final project delivery-ensuring all campus renovations and builds are executed with fiscal responsibility and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Contracting: Execute complex contracting techniques for planning, design, and large-scale construction projects.
Negotiation Leadership: Drive direct negotiations with contractors, consultants, and manufacturers to secure optimal value for the University.
Relationship Management: Act as a key liaison between Facilities directors, project managers, and external vendors to ensure alignment with University goals.
Team Leadership: Supervise procurement staff and manage departmental priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Process Optimization: Utilize advanced Microsoft Office skills (specifically Excel) to track spend, manage documentation, and report on procurement metrics.
Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years in direct purchasing/sourcing OR 5+ years specifically in construction negotiation.
Industry Knowledge: Proven background in construction/renovation sourcing and a deep understanding of design-related contract law.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in a management role with a track record of team development.
Soft Skills: Exceptional written communication and a "customer-service" mindset when supporting internal University departments.
