Job Description: Packaging Engineer | Walker, MI Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for excelling in packaging engineer? The Pivot Group Network, a West Michigan manufacturing-focused recruiting group, is committed to fostering meaningful relationships and supporting community growth. We are collaborating with leading companies in Walker seeking Packaging Engineers to lead and enhance their operations. We are building our network of talent in this field across West Michigan and the broader manufacturing region Pivot Group Network serves. Our partner companies may or may not have an immediate opening for this exact role today, but we actively look for skilled professionals in the regions where they operate. If there is alignment now or in the near future, we reach out. The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Walker seeking Packaging Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test packaging solutions for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, to define packaging requirements and specifications.
  • Optimize packaging designs for cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Conduct packaging material selection, testing, and validation to ensure product integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues during production and in the field.
  • Develop and maintain packaging documentation, including specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new materials, and packaging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, corrugated, flexible films) and their properties.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for package design and development.
  • Strong understanding of packaging machinery, automation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with packaging testing methods (e.g., ISTA, ASTM) and quality control standards.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
  • Project management experience, from conception to launch
