Job description

Position Summary:
Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist. Under the direction and final check of a licensed Pharmacist prepares, packages and labels IV and unit dose interim and maintenance medications according to prescriber orders and to established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Sets up, organizes and maintains work area.
2. Assists Pharmacists, and under their direction, performs duties such as, but not limited to establishing patient profile, entry of new prescriptions, processing refills, formulary compliance, clinical interaction review and processing Hospice Field boxes.
3. Processes new admissions by obtaining required information and reconciling the medication list with medication dispensed. Performs appropriate follow-up to complete profile for residents.
4. Responds to customer phone calls with appropriate follow-up to provide excellent service as evidenced by rating on biannual survey.
5. Performs computer functions as required for position: Frameworks, Docutrack, EMar systems, ordering platform.
6. Assists in ordering, inspecting, changing NDC's and processing owes.
Additional Pharmacy Tech II Responsibility:
• Responsible for all Pharmacy Technician I duties as well as routinely assigned special tasks, responsibilities and projects as directed and assigned by discretion of pharmacy supervisor or the Director of Pharmacy.
Pharmacy Technician I:
Required:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Michigan Temporary, Limited, or Full Pharmacy Technician License; If current candidate has a Michigan Temporary Pharmacy Technician License, a valid Michigan Full Pharmacy Technician License must be obtained within 365 days of issuance
Preferred:
• Computer experience
• Previous pharmacy experience or courses in pharmacy curriculum
Pharmacy Technician II:
Required:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Michigan Limited, or Full Pharmacy Technician License
• Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
Preferred:
• Computer experience
• Previous pharmacy experience or courses in pharmacy curriculum
