Job description

High-Tech Intellectual Property Associate Attorney

Location: New York

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Intellectual Property Associate to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm in New York. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent litigation matters in the technology, electronics, and engineering sectors, representing clients in high-stakes disputes before U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters before U.S. district courts, ITC, and PTAB.

  • Conduct technical and legal analysis on patent validity, infringement, and enforcement strategies.

  • Draft and respond to motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.

  • Collaborate with technical experts to develop trial strategies and arguments.

  • Assist in preparing witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.

  • Handle post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews (IPRs).

Qualifications
  • Education: J.D. from a top-tier law school.

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of patent litigation experience.

  • Technical Background: Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.

  • Admission: Patent Bar admission required.

  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent legal writing, and oral advocacy skills.
