Description
The Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for lecturer part-time temporary positions, with an anticipated start date September 1, 2026. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a part-time period throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
The appointment period is generally in alignment with the nine-month academic quarter (September 1 - June 15) at a .33 FTE. The positions are dependent on curricular need and available funding. Part-time lecturers are non-voting members of the UW Tacoma faculty.
We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in topics including introductory courses in financial and managerial accounting, financial statement analysis, audit, taxation, accounting information systems and analytics, and forensic accounting.
The positions may require on-site face-to-face availability for course instruction or online/hybrid instruction. Teaching assignments may include days and/or evenings. Our graduate programs include weekend course instruction.
The base salary range for this position will be $2,000-$3,097 per month per 5-credit course (0.33 FTE), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Prepare and deliver rigorous course content that meets the academic standards befitting the University of Washington.
• Ensure that delivery of all course materials fits the catalog course description, meets the stated learning goals for each course, and aligns with existing standards.
• Coordinate with the corresponding Area Coordinator and the Milgard School of Business administration.
• Use appropriate and effective teaching strategies and student evaluation methods.
• Inform students of all course requirements and provide feedback on a continuing basis.
• Hold regular office hours.
• Use appropriate technology for the course.
• Submit course grades by the deadline.

Qualifications
Applicants for this instructional faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
• Candidates should have a Master's or PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Business or a related discipline. Candidates with an accounting undergraduate degree in accounting, CPA license, and relevant work experience will also be considered for undergraduate courses.
• Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness or a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field. Candidates with limited prior teaching experience must be willing to commit to an initial onboarding process that includes guided mentoring by experienced faculty.

Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, three letters of recommendation must be received directly by the Milgard School of Business.
