Home Service Oil Company is seeking an experienced, full-time Chief Financial Officer to serve as a strategic financial leader and executive business partner. The CFO will oversee the company's accounting, finance, credit, cash management, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial systems functions while helping guide the organization through continued growth, operational improvement, and technology-enabled transformation.

The ideal candidate is a high-impact, proactive finance executive who brings strong technical financial expertise, disciplined execution, sound business judgment, and the ability to turn financial data into actionable insight. This leader must be comfortable challenging existing processes, building scalable systems, developing people, and leveraging modern tools — including AI-enabled finance, analytics, automation, and reporting solutions — to improve accuracy, efficiency, visibility, and decision-making across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee accounting, finance, credit/collections, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, reporting, financial controls, and related financial systems.
  • Evaluate the current finance and accounting structure and develop a plan for improved efficiency, accountability, scalability, and service to the business.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team by providing timely, accurate, and actionable financial insight.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, financial models, and long-term planning tools.
  • Develop, track, and communicate KPIs and financial metrics across functional areas.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations related to pricing, margins, growth opportunities, capital investments, contracts, vendor relationships, and operational performance.
  • Strengthen financial reporting processes to improve accuracy, timeliness, visibility, and usefulness for decision-making.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, tax reporting, governmental agency reporting, and audit-related activities.
  • Optimize banking, treasury, cash management, deposit, and financing relationships.
  • Develop reliable cash flow projection tools, including minimum cash threshold reporting to support operating needs.
  • Advise leadership on financial terms and risk considerations related to contracts, agreements, and major business decisions.
  • Partner with department managers to improve financial literacy, budget ownership, and accountability.
  • Lead continued modernization of the finance function through improved systems, automation, dashboards, reporting tools, analytics, and AI-enabled processes.
  • Evaluate opportunities to use AI and automation to improve forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, reconciliations, workflow efficiency, and business insight.
  • Ensure responsible use of financial technology and AI, including appropriate review, validation, data protection, internal controls, and governance.
  • Manage PDI-related financial system processes and vendor relationship to ensure accuracy, integrity, and usefulness of financial accounting data.
  • Recruit, manage, coach, and develop employees within the accounting, finance, and credit/collections functions.
  • Build a finance team culture that is accurate, accountable, responsive, business-minded, and committed to continuous improvement.
QualificationsEducation, Skills and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including senior-level leadership experience in a Controller, VP Finance, CFO, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading accounting, finance, credit, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash management, and financial analysis functions.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, internal controls, tax reporting, audit coordination, banking relationships, cash flow management, and compliance obligations.
  • Proven ability to develop KPIs, dashboards, forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting tools that support operational decision-making.
  • Experience leading, developing, and holding finance team members accountable.
  • Strong technology orientation, including experience improving financial systems, reporting processes, automation, analytics, or AI-enabled tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing, growth-oriented environment with shifting priorities, competing deadlines, and evolving business needs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial leaders.
Preferred Experience
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced finance/accounting credentials preferred but not required.
  • Experience in fuel, oil, convenience store, distribution, transportation, wholesale, or multi-entity operations strongly preferred.
  • PDI experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, process redesign, business intelligence tools, automation, or AI-enabled finance initiatives preferred.
  • Experience working in a privately held, growth-oriented, or family-owned business environment preferred.
