The University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science has an exciting full time opportunity for a Post Doctoral Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Danielle McDonald
The Post Doctoral Associate will lead the development and optimization of functional genetic tools in non-traditional marine models, including:
  • Establishing a transgenic protocol in Aplysia californica
  • Developing a morpholino-based gene knockdown protocol in Gulf toadfish (Opsanus beta)

A P.h.D. in a relevant field is required. This position is ideal for candidates with strong training in molecular biology, developmental biology, neurobiology, or physiology, and an interest in method development and comparative biology. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to independently design and troubleshoot experimental protocols and experience with transgenesis, gene knockdown, and microinjection. Experience with aquatic model systems is highly desirable.
The position is full-time, based in Miami, FL, with competitive salary and benefits. Initial appointment is one year, with renewal contingent on performance and funding.
