Job description

Bilingual Plant Sanitation Supervisor

The Bilingual Plant Sanitation Supervisor will oversee Housekeeping/Sanitation on 3rd Shift (standard hours 11:00pm-8:30am) and support the training of all employees in Sanitation procedures across shifts.

Basic Functions:

  • Oversee the sanitation and housekeeping activities across all plants and shifts.
  • Maintain facilities in accordance with audit ready standards.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of all GMP, Food Safety and Plant Safety rules.
  • Monitor and maintain Facility safety, security, controlled access, and environment.
  • Develop and Improve Sanitation and Housekeeping programs in coordination with Sanitation Manager.

Sanitation:

  • Maintain a system to document all daily Sanitation activities.
  • Maintain and schedule the environmental cleaning activities of the plant.
  • Serves as a member of the Food Safety Team
  • Responsible for maintaining sufficient floor stock of necessary plant sanitation supplies and placing timely requests with Parts and Supply Clerk.
  • Monitors chemical usage.
  • Provide the training needed for employees to safely and effectively perform plant sanitation.
  • Works with sanitation chemical suppliers to improve, reduce costs and develop SSOP’s and MOP’s for all sanitation activities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize room changeovers and room washdowns to reduce downtime while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Audit and direct Room Production personnel to complete room cleaning/washing tasks at needed.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain clean and safe working environments at Silva Plants.
  • Ensure trash and recyclables are continually removed from floor and properly disposed of via compactors, dumpsters, bailers and trailers.
  • Ensure completion of daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cleaning tasks for plant, common areas, plant offices, restrooms, breakrooms, trash collection, and recyclables occur.
  • Ensure regularly scheduled cleaning of walls, ductwork, production rooms, warehouse, loading docks, receiving docks and exterior spaces occur.
  • Ensure filters and screens are cleaned and/or replaced as needed.
  • Clean and salt sidewalks at all facilities as needed.
  • Coordinate identified repairs to Facility Manager.

Employee Management:

  • Supervise Housekeeping and Sanitation employees at Mechanic and Franklin facilities, ensuring employees are properly supervised, trained, encouraged and productive.
  • Perform One Point Lessons for Housekeeping and Sanitation Staff.
  • Managing Housekeeping and Sanitation employee vacation requests in coordination with Sanitation Manager and HR.
  • Managing work schedules for Housekeeping and Sanitation employees.
  • Perform employee reviews.
  • Report Disciplinary Violations to Sanitation Manager.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of all GMP, Food Safety and Plant Safety rules.


Physical Requirements:

  • Forklift Certification
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. as a single-person lift
  • Climbing (ladders, stairs, etc.)
  • Bending and stooping
  • Extended periods of being on your feet


This is a full-time, salary exempt position (expected pay range = $65,000-$82,000/year; job offer to be commensurate with candidate experience) with benefits package that includes paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k retirement plan with generous employer match, employee assistance program, employer gift-matching program, wellness program, and company-paid holidays. Additionally, this role may qualify for supplemental compensation in the form of a performance-based bonus. This position is located in Momence, IL 60954.
