Your Role on the Team
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate academic personnel activities including recruitment, appointments, merit increases, promotions, benefits, sabbaticals, and compensation actions.
  • Support employee and labor relations matters, including grievances, layoffs, union-related issues, and policy interpretation.
  • Manage staff HR processes, training and development activities, and time and leave reporting while ensuring compliance with departmental and university requirements.
  • Analyze personnel issues, prepare recommendations, maintain accurate records, and provide guidance on academic personnel policies and procedures.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
  • Experience supporting academic personnel, human resources, employee relations, or administrative operations in a complex organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information, identify trends, and develop logical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage a high-volume workload effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of university academic personnel policies and procedures, particularly within higher education environments.
  • Experience with academic recruitment, appointments, promotions, and merit review processes.
  • Experience supporting faculty affairs, academic affairs, or HR functions in a healthcare or academic medical center setting.

Temporary Employment
This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver's License for driving university vehicles.
The majority of our temporary positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
Please note that we recruit for this position on an on-going basis to build a talent pool of potential candidates. When a position becomes available, we will review applicants at that time.
