Engaged Learning

Manages the Dan T. Moore ( DTM ) Makerspace Laboratory. Serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff by providing instructional, technical, and administrative support. Works to support the development of projects to enhance curricular needs. Develops and manages annual budget for the lab. Works with other Cleveland State University ( CSU ) colleges to guide and integrate the labs resources for their needs. Coordinates partnerships with select community non-profits. Collaborates with peers at other universities and community makerspace staff to share information and continuously improve on best practices. Manage the incorporation of undergraduate introductory engineering courses into the use of the DTM . Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or engineering technology discipline.
  • Four (4) years of work experience in an industrial or educational setting with demonstrated emphasis on engineering or technological laboratory teaching or management.
  • Supervisory and training experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering education, business, or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in website management, preparing and submitting funded proposals, and in project fundraising.
  • Broad community involvement, including K-12 education outreach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of current traditional and advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, including 3D printing, Virtual/Augmented Reality laser engraving, wood, and metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge of current traditional and advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, including operation of all related equipment.
  • Ability to function as systems thinker and be solution minded with a global perspective.
  • Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery and leadership skills, using team-based approach.
  • Ability to develop and administer operating budgets.

  • Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
