Job description

Role: Scrum Master
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Fulltime

Sprint Carryover & Definition of Done
Sprint carryover: Candidates must understand that incomplete work should not be moved to Done, split just to claim completed points, or have effort changed unless it meets the full Definition of Done, including testing/quality requirements. Incorrect handling impacts team velocity and future PI planning.
Continuous improvement/root cause: Candidates should demonstrate strong root-cause analysis and provide multiple specific examples of changes they personally implemented to improve team performanceโ€”not just standard answers like team-building or better communication.

Required Qualifications
3+ years of Scrum Master, Agile Delivery, or closely related Agile experience.
Strong understanding of SAFe Agile methodology and Scrum principles.
Hands-on experience managing and maintaining Scrum/Agile boards.
Experience creating, refining, and managing Agile work items.
Experience reviewing and strengthening business and technical acceptance criteria.
Strong understanding and practical application of the Definition of Done.
Experience working closely with Product Owners, developers, QA/testers, and cross-functional teams.
Experience supporting testing, validation, and quality activities.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguous or complex situations.
Strong cross-team collaboration and dependency-management skills.
Demonstrated experience with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Self-starter with a proactive, curious, and improvement-oriented mindset.
Ability to use data, delivery metrics, and observations to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Willingness to get hands-on with testing and validation when required.
Ability to work onsite in Grand Rapids, MI at least 3 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), or equivalent certification.
SAFe Scrum Master / SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certification.
Experience working in a large-scale Agile or enterprise environment.
Experience supporting PI Planning and other SAFe ceremonies.
Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar platforms.
