GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Greenville Technical College Respiratory Care Program is designed for student success with a balanced curriculum, including both respiratory and general education courses. The program is housed on the Barton Campus in the School of Health Sciences and students participate in clinic throughout hospitals in upstate South Carolina. The associate degree program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Faculty assist students with course content including the role of the respiratory therapist, healthcare concepts, and technical observations and skills. The four full-time and six part-time faculty provide the students with a strong background in the use of respiratory equipment, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, diagnostic procedures, and pathophysiology. The faculty teaches students through direct, hands-on, patient care experience in various hospitals and facilities throughout his/her clinical education. The faculty is an integral part of the success of our students by creating a stimulating and welcoming learning environment.
The philosophy of the educational approach of the Greenville Technical College Respiratory Care program is one of professional development. The respiratory therapist fills the role of a responsible health care practitioner in a growing and rapidly changing medical field of both acute and chronic patient care. Growth and commitment to optimum respiratory care is the foremost goal. The other primary objective of this program is to fill the need for respiratory therapists and to build and maintain a progressive respiratory care profession for the members of the community.
In this challenging role, you will support the Respiratory Care function for Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

  • Clinic instruction and evaluations
  • Clinic site identification
  • Student recruitment, advising, and retention
  • Maintain competence through continuous professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate degree with the skills of a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), licensed in South Carolina, and have been actively involved in providing direct patient care for no less than two years and knowledgeable in subject matter through training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
*Bachelor's degree and active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) with a minimum of three (3) years' experience and previous education experience in a college respiratory therapy program.*Ability to teach, supervise, and evaluate student in the clinical and/or didactic setting.*Have critical thinking skills sufficient for clinical judgment; communication abilities sufficient for interaction with others in verbal and written form; and ability to work in a health care setting.
