Job description

Linux System Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to manage and support enterprise-level Linux environments across both private and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). This role involves maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure while supporting critical operations, including election-related systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, SUSE, Debian)
  • Manage cloud-based Linux environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Oversee system performance, monitoring, and capacity planning
  • Perform patching, vulnerability assessments, and security updates
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Shell, and Python
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters
  • Manage data center operations under strict security protocols
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and OS-related issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, security, operations)
  • Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations
  • Execute change management processes during maintenance windows
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices

Required Skills & Experience (Must-Have):

  • 7+ years of Linux system administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, SUSE, Debian)
  • 4+ years of scripting/automation (Ansible, Shell, Python)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes (design, monitoring, tuning clusters)
  • Experience with: VMware, vCenter, ESXi, Security tools: McAfee, Cisco AMP, Nessus, Tanium, Dell Secureworks
  • Knowledge of patch management and vulnerability remediation processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in high-security/public-sector environments
  • Familiarity with election systems or mission-critical infrastructure
  • Project management experience
  • Strong documentation and process improvement mindset

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Equivalent experience may be substituted)

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes environments
