Posting Number S000977 Position Title Reference Services Librarian Department Library Division Academic Affairs Supervisor Title Outreach and Engagement Librarian Status Part Time <1,000 Hours Salary Range $18 - $21 per hour Position Summary

This is a part-time (evening/weekend) non-exempt position providing reference services.
Employed August through May, two evenings and one weekend day (640 annual hours).

Description of Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide reference service at the Information Desk
  2. Maintain building security, including responsibility for opening and/or closing the building, when required
  3. Oversee student assistants during evening and weekend hours
  4. Handle requests directed to library staff member on duty
  5. Complete projects assigned by Outreach and Engagement Librarian
  6. Perform other related duties as appropriately assigned
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Distinguishing Characteristics

The individual in this position provides reference service at the Information Desk. The individual in this position must cooperate as a team member with the library staff in performing duties essential to efficient library operations. Because the duties of this position require personal interactions with students, faculty, administration, staff, and vendors, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Education/Training
Bachelor's degree, and must have completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.
Experience
Reference service experience or training is required. Experience and background in an integrated online environment required. Experience and background in electronic information resources is required.
