Job description

UVA Temps is an in-house agency that recruits a labor force of qualified candidates and places them in a range of temporary positions across the University.
Temporary IT/Technical assignments offer flexible and meaningful work opportunities that can range from short-term projects lasting a few days to longer engagements with no predetermined end date. Assignment length and scope vary based on the evolving needs of our university partners.
We seek talented professionals with diverse expertise who are interested in contributing their skills through part-time or full-time temporary assignments. These roles provide an opportunity to support impactful initiatives, gain valuable experience, and collaborate across a wide range of professional environments at UVA.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated level of professional customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of tech support and management
  • Intermediate/Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to train on and learn new computerized systems
  • Keen attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate and work alongside faculty, staff, students, vendors, and outside guests of the University in an effective and professional manner.
  • Capacity to handle multiple assignments with critical deadlines and changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • One year or more work experience in a technical capacity; preferably in an academic environment
  • Experience with University of Virginia policies, procedures, and internal operating systems & hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and comprehend a wide variety of University functions and activities and to leverage information technology in support of those functions
