Job description

Job Summary:
This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a Medical-Surgical unit. The LPN will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients, under the support of a Registered Nurse (RN), in a complex care unit for medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients. The role involves administering medications, monitoring patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Location:Rochester, New York, United States
Responsibilities:
- Take patient assignments with RN support.
- Administer blood products.
- Perform central line care/management.
- Perform peripheral line care/management.
- Perform phlebotomy.
- Manage PICC lines.
- Start and maintain IVs.
- Administer oxygen via High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, and oxygen tanks.
- Perform trach care/management.
- Provide feeding tube care/management.
- Follow heparin protocols.
- Monitor pacemakers (temporary and permanent).
- Perform telemetry monitoring on the unit.
- Participate in Rapid Response/Code teams.
- Adhere to isolation precautions.
- Perform wound care/wound vac.
- Care for MS/Tele, Ortho trauma, Total Joint Replacements, and Surgical drains patients.
- Float within skillset as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active New York Single State LPN license (NY is not Compact).
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of Acute Care experience within the last 2 years.
- Must be able to take own patient assignment, with the support of an RN.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- EPIC charting experience.
Special Considerations:
- Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed.
- Must submit RTO (request time off) and block scheduling requests upon submission.
- The client may cancel (call off) up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period without incurring charges for the canceled hours.
Scheduling:
- 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM shifts.
- 13-week contract.
- Every other weekend requirement.
