The School of Medicine's Central Units are seeking an HR Departmental Representative to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted HR partner for multiple administrative units, supporting a wide range of human resources functions that keep our teams running smoothly. You'll collaborate closely with HR leadership and Chief Administrative Officers, contribute to strategic decision-making, and help create a positive, inclusive work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience supporting recruitment, compensation, or employee relations
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as SuccessFactors, iForms, or dFac
  • Knowledge of Duke HR policies and procedures
  • Experience coordinating onboarding or training programs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training - Work requires organizational, analytical, and communication skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience - Two years of business, administrative, and/or supervisory experience with exposure to supervisory or human resource policies and practices related to employee relations.
A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Remote eligible position (exempt-only) and must reside in a Duke University-approved state.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to Duke's record retention policies

Essential Job Duties
  • Manage recruitment for new and replacement positions, including job description development, posting, screening, interviewing coordination, and offer-letter drafting
  • Evaluate compensation by generating regressions, reviewing classification data, and processing salary adjustments and reclassifications
  • Support staff growth and development by guiding managers on training opportunities, tracking PEP/midyear reviews, and facilitating career conversations
  • Assist with employee relations by supporting investigations, drafting corrective actions, maintaining personnel records, and helping with RIF documentation
  • Provide departmental HR support as the first point of contact, coordinating HR transactions, supporting APT processes, and ensuring compliance for faculty, postdocs, and work-study students

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $86,700.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
