Host/Hostess Job Description
Three Dollar Café is looking for energetic hosts/hostesses with an enthusiastic and engaging attitude who is always smiling. Hosts/Hostesses are a vital part to our company because you will be the first impression to all guests entering the facilities. Below is what the position entails.
• Guest Service
o Greet guests as they are arriving and leaving in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
o Acknowledging all guests that enters the facilities
o Answering questions guests may have upon arrival
o Letting guests know who their server will be
o Taking orders by phone in an accurate manner
o Answering the phone in an energetic greeting mentioning the restaurant, your name and how you can assist
• Operations
o Taking guests to their seats with menus and utensils.
o Assembling and verifying to-go orders properly
o Having guests verify their to-go orders at pick-up
o Communicating to-go orders to kitchen staff when needed
o Training new host/hostess
o Assisting other team members
o Help clear and clean tables as needed.
o Instruct bussers, management and/or waiters about areas that need attention for proper dining experience.
o Instructing dining room personnel when new guests arrives and if there are specific needs
o Should a party have particular needs/requests; the host/hostess will ensure the prerequisites are met if possible. This may include needs for small children, individuals with disabilities, food allergies, positioned for a particular game on tv, etc.
o Working with other team members to assure a great dining experience for guests.
• Service and set-up
o Restocking to-go area when needed i.e. bags, condiments, napkins, utensils, etc.
o Cleaning the host/hostess stand and surrounding area routinely
• Knowledge, skills and abilities
o Ability to operate a point of sale system (POS) including processing payments.
o Ability to communicate in a professional manner with guests and team members
o Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions and menu items
o Previous food/retail service experience or formal training in hospitality of 2 yrs a plus in a fast paced environment.
• Compliance
o Adhering to health dept. rules and regulations
o Practicing and training the principles of safe food handling and service
o Compliant with Three Dollar Café's bylaws and practices
• Physical requirements
o Well-kept in personal hygiene
o Always smiling
o Ability to stand up straight throughout a full shift
o Ability to bend and reach while carrying to-go orders
o Visual acuity to review restaurant menus, take orders, navigate dining area, kitchen, other parts of the facility
o Ability to attend work and meetings as scheduled
