PCG Consulting International partners with healthcare organizations to solve complex operational, technology, and business challenges that improve financial performance and patient care PCG Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Healthcare Cybersecurity Consultant to support a large-scale hospital revenue recovery and operational stabilization initiative.


This consultant will help evaluate the security of clinical, financial, and operational systems while supporting the recovery of critical healthcare applications and infrastructure. Working closely with hospital IT, infrastructure, application, integration, and database teams, the consultant will assess cybersecurity risks, validate security controls, and ensure that system recovery activities align with healthcare security and regulatory requirements.


The Healthcare Cybersecurity Consultant will play an important role in protecting sensitive patient information while supporting the restoration of hospital operations and revenue cycle systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assess cybersecurity risks across hospital clinical, financial, and operational systems.
  • Evaluate security controls supporting EHR, patient accounting, revenue cycle, and ancillary applications.
  • Review identity and access management (IAM), authentication, and privileged access controls.
  • Assess network, server, database, and application security configurations.
  • Validate security requirements during system recovery, migration, and integration activities.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, database, application, and integration teams to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Evaluate vulnerabilities affecting healthcare systems and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Review audit logs, security events, and access controls supporting HIPAA compliance.
  • Support risk assessments, security documentation, and compliance reporting.
  • Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning activities.
  • Develop security recommendations that strengthen hospital resilience and operational continuity.
Engagement Details
  • Project-Based W2 consulting employment.
  • Work is expected to be performed primarily remotely.
  • Occasional onsite meetings or working sessions in the Chicago metropolitan area may be required.
  • Several-month engagement with the possibility of extension.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years of cybersecurity experience supporting healthcare organizations or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare cybersecurity principles and HIPAA Security Rule requirements.
  • Experience securing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, and healthcare applications.
  • Knowledge of network security, firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privileged access management.
  • Familiarity with healthcare EHR, patient accounting, or revenue cycle systems.
  • Experience performing security risk assessments and remediation planning.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting hospital recovery, infrastructure modernization, or cybersecurity remediation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, and HITRUST.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, or other enterprise security platforms.
  • Familiarity with Azure or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, HCISPP, Security+, or CEH.
  • Healthcare consulting experience.
  • Experience supporting acute care hospitals or integrated health systems.
