Your Mission
At Insight, we empower businesses to transform their operations through innovative cloud solutions. As a premier Workspace and Google Cloud partner, we guide our Customers through complex digital transformations, ensuring seamless adoption and maximizing ROI.
As a customer-facing Transformation Engineer within our Google Workspace Practice, you have a hybrid role, part business analyst, part data modeler, and part application developer. You will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and leading the deployment of scalable applications aimed at enhancing customer utilization of Google Workspace. You're also hands-on, able to comprehensively test/troubleshoot and build functioning prototypes that prove out ideas and build confidence in the solutions you advocate.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on technical expertise with excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise business value. You will be known as an established contributor within the team and will develop a reputation with Customers for the quality of your work. You are out in front of our delivery organization, meeting with the spectrum of corporate and enterprise Customers that need our consultative work transformation services. You are excited to help build up Customer developers as they engage with AppSheet and Apps Script.
Expectations
Experience
  • 3+ years of AppSheet experience, having built and deployed multiple apps, with integrations and automation. Additionally, you have experience with complex integrations, governance, mentoring, and architectural input for no-code solutions.

Soft Skills
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to business users and gather requirements effectively.
  • Strong written communication for creating app documentation, user guides, and process flows.
  • Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, end-users, IT teams, and other developers.
  • AppSheet engineers often work semi-independently, identifying opportunities and building solutions.
  • The no-code/low-code space, and AppSheet specifically, evolves rapidly. A strong desire for continuous learning is essential.
  • Precision in data modeling, expression writing, and configuration is critical to prevent errors.
  • Working with citizen developers and business users often requires patience and understanding of their technical comfort levels.
  • Ability to think outside the box to find novel ways to solve business challenges using AppSheet's capabilities.

Travel - less than 10% travel to Customer sites, conferences, and other related events.
Working Hours - While this role is primarily focused on North America, flexibility may be required due to SADA's, an Insight company, global presence.

Certificates
  • Cloud Digital Leader, or complete within the first 30 days
  • Generative AI Leader, or complete within the first 60 days
  • Associate Cloud Engineer or able to complete within the first 180 days of employment.

Requirements
  • Ability to build sophisticated mobile and web applications from scratch, leveraging various AppSheet views (forms, dashboards, detail views, cards, maps, charts, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in AppSheet's expression language for defining logic, calculations, conditional formatting, data validation, security rules, and dynamic behavior.
  • Designing and configuring AppSheet's automation features (events, processes, tasks) to create workflows, send notifications, generate reports, and integrate with other services.
  • Ability to design and manage relational data structures within AppSheet, including understanding table keys, references, and slices.
  • Implementing row-level security, column-level security, user roles, and deployment security best practices.
  • Strong expertise in Google Sheets (advanced formulas, data validation, pivot tables, queries, array formulas) is essential.
  • Experience connecting AppSheet to various data sources like Google Cloud SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL), BigQuery, Excel Online, Salesforce, Smartsheet, or other SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to integrate AppSheet with external systems and APIs, either directly or through intermediate services.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and Google Apps Script to extend AppSheet's functionality, create custom integrations with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive), and automate more complex processes beyond native AppSheet Bots.
  • Excellent ability to break down complex problems into smaller, manageable components and design robust logic
  • A tenacity to analyze and solve problems logically, abstract key components from specific details and come up with creative solutions to any problem
  • Time management with the ability to manage multiple streams and concurrent customer projects.

Useful Qualifications
  • Direct experience working with a variety of cloud technologies as well as designing and recommending elegant solutions that drive business outcomes.
  • Experience with developing solutions for large data sets and cloud-based applications.
  • Broad knowledge of systems and application development techniques, database systems/structures, technology tools/products, programming languages.
  • Ability to lead an in-depth client meeting/workshop across a broad range of topics including discovery, cloud compliance and security.
  • Thought leadership with the ability to recommend cloud-native approaches to solve Customer business and technical challenges.
  • Understanding of best practices, design patterns and reference architectures with an uncanny ability to recommend these as needed.
