Pay varies by position and is based on multiple factors including labor market data and, depending on position, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and/or certifications. Additionally, Sportech takes into account the internal equity of current employees when considering compensation. Sportech's reasonable and good-faith estimate for new hire compensation at the time of posting for this position is $25.50 per hour. The $25.50 per hour includes a $22.50 base hourly rate plus a $3.00 per hour shift differential for working 2nd shift. Pay may also include variable compensation from time to time such as overtime for non-exempt positions, shift differential for specific shifts, and/or bonus targets (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).


Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this position preforms proficient operations of the Vac Former.


Essential Job Functions

  • Advanced knowledge of various machinery specifically the vac former and equipment necessary to produce roofs, doors and other plastic components. Promote "safety first" mindset across production floor and ensures staff are following safety procedures/guidelines
  • Lead by example and in alignment with company core beliefs and values
  • Foster an environment of trust, collaboration, accountability and service to our team and community
  • Ability to troubleshoot vac machine working with assistance from Vac Technician
  • Perform set ups to standard and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Train new employees and temporary staff as needed
  • Understand and accurately report daily production quantities to meet set number of parts per hour
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining high level of quality on all parts manufactured consistent with company standards
  • Recommend and implement new strategies/process improvements for more efficient and/or cost-effective processes, working closely with the continuous improvement team
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making
  • Escalate and take initiative on continuous improvement projects
  • Understand OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and drive vac cell to meeting company goal
  • May assist in running other CNC machines as needed
  • Ability to accurately enter numbers into Epicor system
  • Consistent and accurate counts of materials and products
  • Confirm proper functionality of power/hand tools prior to use
  • Identify machining issues, report to Vac Technician or Value Stream Team Leader (VSTL) immediately for assistance
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tag out
  • May assist in completing daily Tier 1 board and conduct meetings as needed
  • Ability to complete the first part approval process for all jobs
  • Responsible for set up operations and performs preventative maintenance
  • Willingness to move between buildings, shifts and other machines within company to expand knowledge
  • Ability to run multiple vac machines
  • Ability to run the 3-axis and 5-axis machines
  • Work within lean manufacturing guidelines
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Support culture and maintain a strong focus on housekeeping and 5s within the cell

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 2 years machine experience and working knowledge of basic troubleshooting
  • Experience running a vac former preferred
  • Experience in leading small groups preferred
  • Ability to learn production skills and processes used
  • Ability to safely perform work in varying work conditions
  • Ability to understand and follow directions using the English language
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a self-starter
  • Ability to read blue prints and use measurement devices such as calipers and protractors
  • Knowledge of basic FANUC code
