Description
This temporary position will deliver quality customer service, organize & stock merchandise and/or course materials, process online customer orders, etc. Temporary positions will end the second week of classes, but open permanent student positions may be offered to temporary employees. Please attach a cover letter with your application.
Examples of Duties
Duties Include:
  • Organize and stock merchandise and or course materials.
  • May be required to create in-store merchandise displays.
  • Assist in product inventory cycle counts.
  • Cashier using multiple forms of payment.
  • Process web orders for course materials & merchandise with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Bending, stooping, and lifting cartons of course materials and merchandise up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in other bookstore operations.
  • Other duties as required.

Typical Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
  • Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Attention to detail, honesty, reliability.
  • Communication skills including oral, written and/or nonverbal.
  • Cashier experience.
  • Stockroom management.
  • Customer service in a retail environment.
  • Data entry.
  • Physical abilities: mobility/strength/dexterity/balance/coordination/endurance.
  • Human relations/interpersonal skills.

Supplemental Information
Working Days and Hours:
  • Work shifts will vary between 8am and 7pm.
  • Some evenings and weekends will be required, particularly for special events such as semester opening and closing, football games, etc.
  • Candidate will work 15-20 hours per week, some of which may be irregular or outside the traditional workday.

Special Instructions:
Full-time staff & 12-month faculty benefits-eligible position: Benefits include competitive salary; health, dental, vision, life insurance, AD & D, long-term disability; 3 weeks paid vacation per year; 3 weeks of accrued sick leave per year; 13 paid holidays; retirement; and generous education assistance for an employee, spouse and dependent children taking classes at UCM.
