Position Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100D, customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership for all quality assurance activities, ensures product conformity, supports customer satisfaction, and drives a culture of continual improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, maintain, and continually improve the AS9100D Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with customer, statutory, regulatory, and internal quality requirements
- Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and records
- Coordinate internal audits and support external certification, customer, and regulatory audits
- Lead Management Review meetings and report on QMS performance metrics
- Monitor Quality Objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Manage nonconforming material and ensure proper disposition per documented procedures
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving methods (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D)
- Oversee calibration and control of monitoring and measuring equipment
- Interface directly with customers on quality concerns, corrective actions, and flow-down requirements
- Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) for compliance with customer requirements
- Monitor supplier quality performance and support supplier approval and evaluation activities
- Support risk identification and mitigation activities
- Train employees on quality requirements, procedures, product safety, and ethics
- Provide quality performance reports to executive management
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Experience:
- 5+ years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
Preferred Certifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CMQ/OE)
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- AS9100D Lead Auditor
- Internal Auditor Certification
Technical Skills
- AS9100D and ISO 9001 requirements
- Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D) and CAPA
- First Article Inspection (AS9102), GD&T, and blueprint reading
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) and inspection techniques
- Supplier quality management and calibration systems
- ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication; leadership and team development
