CMM Programmer – Aerospace / Gas Turbine

Location: San Diego, CA – Onsite

Duration: 1+ Year

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer with hands-on experience in the aerospace and/or gas turbine manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), inspecting complex precision components, and ensuring dimensional accuracy in accordance with aerospace quality standards.


The candidate should have strong experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar CMM programming software, along with excellent knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, CAD models, FAI, and aerospace inspection requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, optimize, and execute CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent software.
  • Inspect complex aerospace and gas turbine components such as turbine blades, vanes, rotors, stators, casings, and other precision-machined components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T requirements, and dimensional specifications.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and support documentation in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Analyze CMM inspection results and prepare detailed dimensional inspection reports.
  • Identify dimensional deviations, measurement discrepancies, and manufacturing issues and work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve them.
  • Support production inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, and quality verification activities.
  • Ensure inspection activities comply with AS9100, AS9102, ISO, and applicable aerospace quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure CMM equipment and associated tools are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programming, probing, measurement, and inspection issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inspection accuracy, cycle time, process capability, and productivity.
  • Assist with SPC and statistical analysis of inspection data when required.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams on new product introduction, process improvements, and precision machining projects.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of hands-on CMM programming experience, preferably within aerospace, gas turbine, or high-precision manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or equivalent CMM programming software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Experience measuring tight-tolerance and complex precision components.
  • Experience working with CAD models and dimensional inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing materials such as titanium, nickel-based superalloys, and composite materials.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 quality requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with gas turbine, aircraft engine, aerospace, or defense components.
  • Experience with turbine blades, vanes, rotors, stators, casings, or similar complex components.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and aerospace inspection documentation.
  • Knowledge of SPC, process capability, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working with advanced metrology and precision inspection equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams in a fast-paced onsite environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
