Vegetation Technician (Temporary Transmission Tower Project Position) Transmission Structure Brushing
Project Duration: Immediate Opening – Project anticipated to end mid to late December 2026 Hotshot Arbor Care is seeking dependable, safety-focused Vegetation Technicians to support a temporary transmission vegetation management project. This position is dedicated to structure brushing around high-voltage transmission towers to maintain compliance with California Public Resources Code (PRC) 4292. This is a full-time, field-based position reporting from our Ventura, CA yard. Work will primarily be performed throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties. Position Summary Vegetation Technicians are responsible for inspecting, accessing, and performing vegetation clearance around transmission structures. Crews will ensure all legs of each transmission tower are inspected and cleared as required to meet PRC 4292 clearance standards while accurately documenting completed work using company-provided digital applications. Responsibilities
  • Perform vegetation clearance around transmission towers in accordance with PRC 4292 requirements.
  • Inspect and clear vegetation around all legs of each transmission structure as required.
  • Safely operate hand tools and power equipment including weed eaters, chainsaws, loppers, and leaf blowers.
  • Identify vegetation requiring removal to achieve required clearances.
  • Remove and properly dispose of brush and vegetation generated during operations.
  • Navigate to assigned structures using GPS and digital mapping applications.
  • Utilize company mobile applications to document work completed, photographs, notes, and structure status.
  • Notify property owners when required and safely obtain access to work locations.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inspection logs and documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, tailboards, and ongoing training.
  • Immediately report hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform additional vegetation management duties as assigned.

Daily Workflow
  • Report to the Ventura yard for daily safety briefing.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles, and equipment.
  • Travel to assigned transmission structures.
  • Locate structures using GPS and digital mapping software.
  • Notify customers and obtain access when necessary.
  • Inspect each transmission structure.
  • Perform vegetation clearance around all tower legs as required.
  • Document completed work using company mobile applications.
  • Remove debris and restore work areas.
  • Complete daily documentation and synchronize records before and at the end of each shift.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid California Driver License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to lift and carry 30–50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Ability to hike over uneven ground while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Reliable transportation to the Ventura reporting location.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in vegetation management, tree trimming, forestry, landscaping, or utility vegetation management.
  • Experience performing structure brushing on utility transmission or distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of PRC 4292 clearance requirements.
  • Experience using GIS, GPS, or mobile field data collection applications.
  • Chainsaw operation experience.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • OSHA training or certifications.
  • Wildland fire certifications (S-130, S-212, RT-130, ICS-100, IS-700) are a plus.

Employment Information Job Type: Temporary Full-Time (Project Position) Project End Date: Anticipated mid to late December 2026 Pay: $25.00 – $29.00 per hour, depending on experience Schedule
  • Four 10-hour shifts (4/10 schedule)
  • Monday through Thursday

Additional Requirements All candidates must successfully pass a background check, DMV record review, and pre-employment drug screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted during employment. Employees must provide their own EH rated lace-up work boots in good condition. All other required PPE will be provided by the company.
Work Location: Field-based throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties. Daily reporting location is Ventura, California.
