Job description

About the Role:

The Robotics Automation Engineer will provide engineering leadership to the manufacturing organization as the subject matter expert. This includes testing new technologies, delivering proof of concepts, specifying robotic applications, establishing robotics engineering best practices and/or standards, and deploying site robotics in partnership with manufacturing resources. This role also includes development of all maintenance processes and equipment including troubleshooting of processes and equipment, optimizing work processes, as well as the planning and improvement of preventive maintenance processes. The selected individual will also assist with coordination of outside contractors as well as train and motivate lower level maintenance staff members (robotic technician(s)).

Your Responsibilities:

  • SME for Fanuc and Kawasaki Robotics, providing engineering, programming, service, training, support and vendor supervision.
  • Support the development of Engineering Best Practices and Engineering Standards for robotic application development.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams within manufacturing, quality, and other business units when developing new robotic applications.
  • Develop capabilities in robotics and PLC programming to effectively troubleshoot design and/or functional issues.
  • Support the effective design and deployments of robotic technologies by working in multi-disciplinary teams within manufacturing, quality, and other business units.
  • Be a champion for safety, compliance, and quality best practices when delivering robotic applications to manufacturing sites.
  • Provide technical mentoring to controls engineers related to the deployment and utilization of robotic technologies, including serving as a Peer Coach to new engineers and technicians.
  • Provide oversight of supplier, contract, and site resources in the delivery of robotic applications at manufacturing sites.
  • Determine/modify PM plan for robotic equipment.
  • Budget for and coordinate vendor work for maintaining robotic equipment
  • Provide support on equipment breakdowns.
  • Develop improvement initiatives to reduce breakdowns, repair time and/or costs.
  • Identify training required to improve craft skill levels based upon data and field observations.
  • Refine work content of PPM routines and analyze planned downtime of equipment to develop and improve PPM schedules and methods
  • Other duties as assigned

Let's Talk About Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • College Major Desired: Robotics/Electrical, or related discipline
  • 2+ years' experience supporting Kawasaki and/or Fanuc robots.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and provide clarity to all levels within an organization.
  • Proficient data analysis skills and ability to solve problems, identify patterns and report relevant data to senior level management.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance processes, machine reliability, repair, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated trouble shooting/problem solving experience in an engineering role
