Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to support aircraft modifications, Special Missions programs, and aftermarket engineering projects. This role is responsible for investigating manufacturing and design-build issues, developing structural engineering solutions, supporting production, and designing aircraft modifications from concept through release.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with aircraft structural design, manufacturing support, MRB activities, and Special Missions or aftermarket modifications. This position requires advanced CATIA V5 expertise and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate design-build and manufacturing issues and develop structural engineering solutions.
  • Create temporary engineering solutions to resolve production and assembly issues quickly.
  • Review and disposition aircraft non-conformances, including preparing MRB rework instructions.
  • Investigate aircraft discrepancies using engineering drawings, models, and production documentation.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and multiple engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues.
  • Design and release Flight Test Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Coordinate engineering changes with work package owners and program stakeholders.
  • Author structural engineering instructions, special installation procedures, and operational restrictions.
  • Design and release structural and systems installations for Special Missions aircraft.
  • Support manufacturing teams during aircraft modifications and production activities.
  • Ensure engineering documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to engineering team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of aerospace engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting aircraft manufacturing, production, and aircraft modifications.
  • Experience with Special Missions aircraft or aftermarket aircraft modifications.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
  • Minimum of 15,000 hours of CATIA V5 experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with the following CATIA V5 workbenches:
    • Assembly Design (Required)
    • Part Design (Boolean Operations) (Required)
    • Aerospace Sheetmetal (Required)
    • Tubing Design (Required)
  • Strong understanding of aircraft structures and installation design.
  • Experience creating engineering releases and supporting MRB activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) in compliance with ITAR requirements.
