Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Lineman Foreman to lead our team of linemen in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead powerlines and associated equipment. The Foreman will be responsible for supervising crew members, coordinating work activities, and ensuring that all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety and excellence.

Bonus Opportunity:

This position includes a $3,000 bonus opportunity, contingent upon successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings and verification of the ability to bring an experienced crew.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Lead a crew of linemen in performing various tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead powerlines. Provide guidance, direction, and support to crew members to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.
  • Work Planning and Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and schedule work activities. Assign tasks to crew members based on their skills, experience, and availability. Ensure that materials, equipment, and resources are available as needed to support project timelines.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for crew members and other personnel. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate hazards. Coach and mentor crew members on safe work practices and ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is used at all times.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead powerlines to ensure that work is completed to the highest quality standards. Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify that work meets specifications and customer requirements.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for crew members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and proficiency in line work. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all tools, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and inspected according to manufacturer guidelines and company policies. Coordinate repairs and replacements as needed to minimize downtime and ensure that crew members have access to safe and reliable equipment.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers, property owners, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction. Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, equipment readings, and other relevant information. Prepare reports, work orders, and documentation as required by company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages or storm damage, in a timely and effective manner. Coordinate crew activities and resources to restore power safely and minimize disruptions for customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings in line construction and maintenance activities. Implement best practices and lessons learned to optimize crew performance and project outcomes.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized lineman training program is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a lineman in the electrical utility industry, with demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles, safety practices, and regulatory requirements related to working with high-voltage powerlines.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire crew members to achieve their best performance.
  • Proficiency in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work activities to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) if required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments, including remote locations and rugged terrain.
  • Holds a Journeyman Electrical Distribution Systems License, including Transmission Lines (EL-1J).

Work Environment:

  • This role is situated within an outdoor environment and regularly will be conducted in various weather conditions.
  • This is a full-time position with working hours scheduled during various hours.
