Student Immigration Specialist

The purpose of this position is to meet the non-immigrant needs of international students. All Immigration Specialists will work collaboratively within the Office of International Affairs, with colleagues across campus, and with all the necessary federal agencies (SEVP, USCIS, DHS, ICE, CBP, etc.) to serve that purpose. The Student Immigration Specialist is a member of the International Student Team. As a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 students, this position applies a high level of industry knowledge to advise international students on maintaining lawful non-immigrant status through evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of federal nonimmigrant regulations and immigration law; advises also on cross-cultural issues and other concerns to increase student success and retention. Supports the academic mission by creating strong working relationships and building consensus through collaboration with academic departments and service units on F-1 and J-1 regulatory issues as they pertain to student success and retention. As a DSO and ARO, utilizes technology (PeopleSoft, Sunapsis, SEVIS) to assist with Immigration Check In, SEVIS event creation, immigration document processing (I-20 and DS-2019), reporting, and record keeping as mandated by federal regulations. Creates and delivers non-immigrant related programs (for example, Curricular Practical Training and Option Practical Training workshops), services, and documents to support international students; serves on committees. All Immigration Specialists must be able to prioritize competing deadlines, thrive in a high volume, fast-pace environment and manage a consistently significant caseload (several hundred per week).
This is a one-year temporary role.

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $21.35 - $26.00. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
